Gurupurnima 2019 #गुरुपुर्णिमा२०१९

गुरुपुर्णिमा = गुरु + पुर्णिमा

Gurupurnima is celebrated in India by Hindu's on the full moon day (purnima) of Ashad month as per hindu calendar. This day is considered as a festival, where people worship their Guru (preacher/priest/saint) who direct them on their religious paths. Earlier i.e. during the era of Mahabharat and Ramayan, we have studied that there was a Guru-Shishya Parampara गुरु-शिष्य परंपरा that used to be followed, wherein the shishyas (students) used to stay with guru and get all the education needed. As time moved on, this parampara slowly started diminishing.
In modern world, Hostels, Boarding schools are some of the examples where you can relate to a guru-shishya parampara.

Guru is not the one who only teaches you, but he is the one who guides you to the right path. He is the one who will always show you the path of truth and honesty. But now there is a market of Spiritual Gurus and so one should choose wisely the "Right Guru". Finding and following a Perfect Guru is a task and similarly finding a perfect shishya is also equally challenging. Dronacharya was considered to be the best Guru during the era of Mahabharat. So All Pandavas and Kauravas became his disciples, but Arjun was the one who could manage to become a perfect shishya. Now despite having a perfect Guru, during the Mahayudha (hugewar), he was shaky to fight against his own brothers i.e. Kauravas, So Krishna became his sarathi (horse-cart rider) i.e Guru. It was Krishna who told him Bhagwat Geeta and showed him the right path. Krishna being the almighty could have easily won the war but he did not step down and as it was the war of Arjun and he must only act to get its fruits. Guru preaches us, guides us, shows us the path but it is we who have to inherit those preachings and walk on the path to get fruitful results. This shows that we always need Guru at every point of time in our life. Then that Guru can be in any form.

If we consider today's time, then our parents who bestows nice sanskars on us, teachers who educates us are our Gurus. But when we grow up, we start forgetting these people who laid the foundation on which we are standing erect today. And yes I am saying that we do forget, because we see so many parents living away from their children. Reasons could be many like married couples want freedom, newly wed couples are not ready to adjust, People go and settle abroad or at far away places and do not take their parents with them, also if the parents are taken they are expected to work even at the old age, this frustrates them and they finally choose to leave alone. So Do not Celebrate GuruPurnima, if you are not respecting your parents. First try to respect them, be friendly and jolly with them, this is going to be the best gift or "Gurudakshina" to your teacher ie. parents where the sanskars, taught by them would be seen in your actions. No Guru or parent is going to teach you wrong, but it is you as a student who is responsible to imbibe those learning and implement them through your actions.

If you are going in a wrong direction, then it is obvious that the teacher will scold you or beat you, but due to too much of westernization, if teacher scolds you or beats you then it has become a crime in this so called modern era.
All the people reading this Blog, just try to remember when your teacher or parents scolded and hit you. I feel everyone would be able to remember atleast 1 such incident. Now let me know, didn't you learn anything from that incident? Yes off course, everyone would have learned that whatever we had done for which we got scolded was a wrong thing. And whenever we grow up, we will always have it in the back of our mind that will prevent us from performing that act again.

Lets teach the new generation that they should not become a machine and that google, you-tube and other related sites are not the real gurus they are simply informative sites. Only gaining information would have been enough, then why not build robots?

But I am happy today, as on this occasion of Gurupurnima, I saw many kids carrying greeting cards, a single rose bouquet, chocolate with a Pen and many other things to gift to their favorite teachers. This shows that as parents people are giving their kids the right education and that next generation is not going to let this relation vanish off.

Last but not the least I would like to chant the words to praise all the Gurus who came to my life and gave me worthy advises and taught me to understand things that would help me lead a happy, healthy and cheerful life.

Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara.
Guru Shakshat Parabrahma, Tasmayee shree guruve Namaha.

गुरु ब्रह्मा गुरु विष्णू गुरु देवो महेश्वरा ।।
गुरु साक्षात परब्रह्म तसमयी श्री गुरुवे नमः ।।
